Oregon City School District names new assistant superintendent of teaching, learning

Oregon City School District has appointed Sarah Crane to serve as the new assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, effective July 1.

Crane has worked in education for more than two decades. She began in 2002 as a special education teacher in Alabama, followed by roles in both Texas and Oregon. She has served as a special education coordinator and director for InterMountain Education Service District in Eastern Oregon, where she provided support and guidance to 12 school districts in areas such as special education services, behavior support, state reporting and teacher training.

Crane also held leadership positions as a principal at Ione Community School and Jackson Elementary School in Hillsboro, and was executive director of schools for the Hillsboro School District, overseeing middle and elementary school principals and school programs.

“I am honored that Dr. Crane will be joining our district,” said Oregon City Superintendent Dayle Spitzer. “Her diverse skills in K-12 systems and expertise in behavior and change leadership will be an asset to our schools.”

Crane added, “It’s obvious that there is great work happening in the district and I look forward to connecting with students, staff and community members in order to help support student success.”
